Old Image Retouching
I was at my grandma's house a few weeks ago and came across a bunch of old photographs of my family throughout the years. There were so many great pictures that my grandma had took and kept in really good shape, but the image above of my grandfather happened to be one of my favorites. He was a big military man back in the day and it was a big part of his life. What I also loved about this picture is that I can definitely see resemblances of many relatives that I know in my family through my grandpa. I had a lot of fun retouching this photograph and working on the contrast and color of it.

Foreclosure USA by Kirk Crippens at UOP
Hey everyone!
So on Thursday the entire class took a trip down the street over to UOP and checked out the latest photography exhibit that was there. It was called Foreclosure USA and it was all shot by photographer Kirk Crippens. What was awesome about this project is the fact that it was all shot locally in Stockton. I do not live in Stockton, but it was cool to see a project shot so close to home, that I could recognize many things in the photos.
The entire display and photographs were absolutely amazing and they were all shot using digital. Just looking at each of the photos really made you think about the foreclosure crisis and about the people who have been affected by it.
One photo that really caught my eye was the first one hanging next to the description of the project. It was called "The Road". This photo really made me think a lot about how things had seemed to be going good at first, but then the road just stops and you are just kind of stuck there, not sure what is going to happen next. That to me really symbolizes the foreclosure crisis in my eyes.
There were also many other photos such as "Neighborhood", "Duplex", "3-Car Garage", and "End" that really caught my eyes the most in the entire exhibit. I felt that all of the photos in this project really helped symbolize the foreclosure crisis in this area. The quality of the photographs were also great as well and I could tell that this man really took much time and effort in this project. It was very impressive.
I would really love to do projects like these on a specific subject that is close to my heart. I think that would be fantastic.

Have a good weekend everybody! I will be spending it in Southern California and hopefully I will get some good photo taking opportunities :)

First Day!
So this was my first official day of taking digital photography class at Delta College. This is very exciting for me since I have only worked with film in both college and high school so far. I am excited to see what type of photographs I will be able to create in this new class and what skills I can take with me :)
